Hadleigh's Spirit of Guthrum: Annual round up - by popular request

By Derek Davis

1st Jan 2022 | Opinion

There may not be definitive proof of exactly where the former King of East Anglia is buried in Hadleigh but the Spirit of Guthrum lives on through his often humorous, and incisive column.

While his plaintive plea for more recognition by the townsfolk in Hadleigh has often come through, his Christianity means he does not show his resentment to Rowland Taylor - too much.

However, it appears he is supportive of the King Guthrum Group that is keen to shine a light on his connections to Hadleigh, which in turn will help the town prosper through the tourism and economic benefits.

Meanwhile, he continues to reflect on contemporary issues while comparing to his days of yore in Guthrum's unique and wistful yet forceful fashion.

By popular request Hadleigh Nub news has put together an annual f some of the Spirit of Guthrum's most popular musings of 2021, and stand by to enjoy more in 2022.
