Letter to Spirit of Guthrum's Ghost

I note that you are wandering around Hadleigh hoping that the good people will build a statue in the town to recognise your life.

At the moment we can not confirm that you actually lived, died and was buried here. We know there is a tomb in St Mary's Church commonly known as Guthrum's tomb but as it was built some 600 years after you had died it is unlikely that you are there.

So, my challenge to you, Guthrum's Ghost is to identify your grave.

Were you buried as a Christian or did you follow some of your compatriots of your time and be buried with your Danish / Viking grave goods plus some Christian identification, such as at Prittlewell, Essex?

If you were buried with your grave goods then finding those would cover the cost of a gold plated memorial to you.

So Guthrum, perhaps you could have a session with the editor of the Nub News and an Ouija board, confirm you history in Hadleigh and buy your own monument.
