Babergh has published its draft five-year housing land supply statements – outlining the anticipated supply of new homes between now and 2026, on the Shotley peninsula and other parts of the district.

The National Planning Policy Framework requires councils to identify and update a supply of specific deliverable sites which are capable of providing a minimum of five years' worth of housing against their housing requirement. This is known as the housing land supply.

The holiday industry has taken a big hit due to the pandemic but companies such as Travel Stop in Hadleigh have stayed open by remaining close to their customers and being available, as founder Bridget Keevil today confirmed.

Mrs Keevil added: "Many operators haven't been able to manage the storm and have been run out of business. We have been sensible and not wasted money where we didn't have to."

Babergh is asking businesses, residents and the local community to give their feedback to help shape the future of Hadleigh Market.

The market, which runs every Friday morning, has grown substantially over the last five years, and during the coronavirus restrictions offered a safe, open space for local shoppers to purchase food and other essential items.

Local film and historian students, 17 year olds Harrison Drane and Alfie Cutts, have recently created a short documentary about Suffolks history called: "Silly Suffolk."

The documentary was created as part of a college project and has since been uploaded to YouTube.

Parents of children born in the Hadleigh area this year can have a tree planted in their name in the woods at Broom Hill, or in their own garden.

The offer is part of the Tree for Life scheme in Babergh which offers a free tree for new parents, and is now open for 2021 applications.
