Huw Roberts spoke of shame at conditions Hadleigh residents are forced to live in

A Hadleigh councillor has made an emotional speech about the shame being brought on the town by failure of a charity to deal the damp and chronic conditions being endured by some of its elderly residents.

Huw Roberts spoke passionately at the full Hadleigh town council meeting last night to highlight the plight being suffered by residents at the Hadleigh Grand Feoffment Charity's (HGFC) alms houses in George Street and Benton Street.

Practising Church of England families on the Shotley peninsula may no longer be given priority at oversubscribed C of E schools in Suffolk under new county council plans, it has emerged.

Community engagement ramped up as Covid cases increase

Community engagement efforts have ramped up in Suffolk in a bid to get people jabbed amid rising Covid-19 cases – with the team set to expand to engaging in 15 languages in the next few weeks.

Ipswich has the third highest number of cases in England with 861 per 100,000 people, with Babergh, West Suffolk and Mid Suffolk all exceeding more than 500 cases per 100,000.

Reduced street lighting plans have been agreed for Hadleigh and other parts of district to help combat the harmful affects on humans and wildlife.

Babergh along with neighbouring Mid Suffolk council, passed motions which pledged to reduce the intensity of outdoor lights in appropriate locations, or turn street lights off entirely where they are not wanted.
