Babergh is asking businesses, residents and the local community to give their feedback to help shape the future of Hadleigh Market.

The market, which runs every Friday morning, has grown substantially over the last five years, and during the coronavirus restrictions offered a safe, open space for local shoppers to purchase food and other essential items.

Home to 20 regular stalls, Hadleigh Market recently welcomed start-up businesses to experience the market through the council's Innovate Local scheme, which was funded by a grant from Suffolk Inclusive Growth Investment Fund.

Since the last market consultation in 2016, there have been significant changes in the way people want to shop and Babergh District Council is taking the opportunity to engage with market traders, local businesses, and the community to understand their views and opinions to ensure the market continues to be a success for many years to come.

Cllr Mick Fraser, ward member for Hadleigh South said: "The market is very much part of Hadleigh and its community.

"Having grown from three to 20 stalls over the last five years we know the stalls are attracting a lot of regular shoppers.

"By undertaking this engagement, we can ensure the market remains popular and continues to attract a wide range of traders and shoppers."

Cllr Michael Holt, cabinet member for economic growth said: "Hadleigh Market is an important part of the town, not only providing a convenient place for local people to shop but also creating a buzz for visitors to the town coming to enjoy the high street and attractions. I would encourage anyone with an interest in the future of the market to submit their views online or in person."
