Hadleigh town council has breached its own complaints policy by failing to respond to a claim of discrimination, it has been alleged.

A Hadleigh resident made the complaint to the town clerk Wendy Brame and mayor Gordon McLeod on January 27 but has still not received a response almost two weeks later.

The council's policy states:

Stage 1
Your complaint will initially be dealt with by the Town Clerk who will acknowledge your complaint within two (2)1 working days2, not including the day on which the complaint was received. You may do this in person, by phone, or by writing to or emailing. The addresses and numbers are set out below.

That clearly has not happened and the resident has subsequently been told the mayor has been unavailable and will remain so until at least February 24. However the town clerk has been available, along with deputy mayor Bill Wilson, but they have not dealt with the complaint.

This latest complaint about the town council failing to deal satisfactory with issues, follows a data breach involving the council's archive system, when a number of residents' details were leaked without their permission or knowledge.

Zig and Zag response...
