29 days of Yoga with Kim in Hadleigh

As I don't know anyone who hasn't be affected by cancer either personally, or indirectly, via a friend or family member. However, as a result of new and better treatment and research discoveries many are winning the battle (in fact many members of Hadleigh Old School yoga have their own stories and it's an honour and a privilege to see their smiling faces every week). The hope for the future is that, eventually, every type of cancer will have its own successful treatment.
Historically, yoga teachers, during their training, make a pledge to stay true to the ethics of yoga and to give back when possible and this is an oath still upheld by many of us teachers. During February I will be supporting the Cancer Research 29 day Yoga challenge as a teacher and I will also be donating the profits of Hadleigh Old School Yoga classes.. All attendees will, as a result, be donating to Cancer Research just by attending their regular yoga class.
If anybody wants to know more about the 29 days of Yoga Cancer Research challenge further info. is available on line and I also have a Facebook page relating to the challenge.
NEW WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON CLASS? I have been approached about the possibility of an additional afternoon yoga class (possibly 2pm to 3.15pm or 1.45pm to 3pm). As both morning and evening classes are now well attended, I would consider offering this if there was enough interest. It maybe that some of you who attend the morning or evening class would like the opportunity to switch to an afternoon class (or would just like to have the ability to swap out your regular morning/evening for an afternoon session occasionally depending on your schedule). Feedback welcome.
YOGA FOCUS FOR FEBRUARY……..HAPPY HIPS & SELF LOVE
Happy Hips focus will consist of asanas with emphasis on opening and strengthening the hips. The hips are at the pelvic hub of our skeletal system affecting the way we walk, sit, move and sleep. Creating harmony in the hips often leads to harmony in the entire body/mind as well as the added bonus of perhaps delaying or even avoiding the need for a hip replacement. Trauma (emotional stress) is said to be held in the hips but is less noticeable than say clenching your jaw or hunching your shoulders and releasing tension in the hips can have remarkable consequences.
There is a lot of talk these days about "self love". It sounds great, but what does it actually mean? How do we love ourselves and why does it matter? Self love means that you accept yourself fully, treat yourself with kindness and respect, and nurture your growth and wellbeing. Having a good relationship with yourself is a selfless act, not a selfish act. Because how you treat others is often a reflection of how you treat yourself.
