Hadleigh United face sanctions from the FA after their Thurlow Nunn Premier League match at Lakenheath was abandoned on 82 minutes.

Hosts Lakenheath were already down to nine men when an incident off the pitch between substitutes and someone tying to retrieve a loose ball escalated into a full blown kerfuffle, involving both sets of players and those in the dug outs.

Referee Ian Pascu and his officials struggled to get full control and he abandoned the match.

Both clubs face sanctions if charged with failing to control their players, and/or other charges.

Hadleigh chairman John Chenery told Nub News the club would wait until the referee's report before commenting but would co-operate fully with any subsequent investigations by Suffolk FA and Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League officials.

Lakenheath FC released a club statement on social media which read: "In around the 82nd minute, a confrontation took place at the corner of the pitch between some staff and players. The officials took the decision to abandon the game shortly after. We will keep supporters up to date on any outcome."

Hadleigh were mounting a strong finish to the game after going two goals down to Dean Grogan and Luke Young finishes for Heath.

Home keeper Charlie Beckwith and another heath player were shown red cards for two bookable offences each.

Ethan Mayhew netted from the spot against substitute keeper Craig Nurse.
