Development in Hadleigh included in Babergh's JLP

Councillors have welcomed a decision by Planning Inspectors to allow work on their Joint Local Plan to continue – meaning Babergh can ensure the right developments happen in the right places at the right time, in Hadleigh and surrounding villages.

Public examination of the Local Plan, the strategic outline for future development of the districts, was paused earlier this year to allow the Babergh and neighbouring council Mid-Suffolk further time to review their evidence.

Hadleigh town centre manager Cheryl Tye under fire over handling of Christmas trees

A stormy Hadleigh town council meeting had to be halted last night as the row over Christmas trees escalated.

Chairman Gordon McLeod, standing in for mayor Frank Minns who missed the meeting for personal reasons, suspended proceedings for five minutes, after angry exchanges about a solicitor's letter sent to a resident who had complained about the way the town centre trees had been erected.

Get a bus to vaccine centre

People in Hadleigh and surrounding villages can today take advantage of free bus and taxi rides to get to their vaccination appointment or to a vaccine drop-in clinic.

The offer is open to anyone in the county who needs help getting to their appointment or a drop-in clinic for a first, second or booster vaccination and will will be in place until December 29.
