Young women are being warned to be vigilant after man accosted at least three teenagers in Hadleigh.

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following reports that a man in a silver car has been approaching females in the town.

Two incidents were reported to have occurred on Monday 13 December.

At approximately midday an 18-year-old woman was waiting at the bus stop on Lady Lane, near Aldham Road, when she was approached by a man in a silver car who engaged in conversation with her.

The man asked the teenager if she wanted a lift into Ipswich and claimed to know her mother, but the woman repeatedly declined and the man drove off.

A few minutes later, a silver car is reported to have approached a second teenager waiting at a bus stop further up Lady Lane, between the Londis garage and the industrial estate, offering a lift into Ipswich which was also declined.

Police received report of a third incident on Wednesday, 15 December.

A 14-year-old girl was approached at approximately 5:15pm in Bradfield Crescent. A man in a silver car is reported to have offered the teenager a lift to Ipswich. She declined, however the man followed her in his car until she reached Aldham Road.

The man is described as white, aged in his 50s, with short brown, greying hair. He is believed to have spoken with a local accent. The car is described as silver, possibly a saloon, with a dark interior.

Police are urging lone females to be vigilant of their surroundings and to report suspicious activity such as these incidents that leads them to feel unsafe.

Anyone who witnessed these incidents or has knowledge of them should contact Suffolk Police, quoting reference number: 37/70908/21 (Lady Lane), or 37/71187/21 (Bradfield Crescent).
