First class sitting for Hungry Hack at Hadleigh's Jet Lounge@99 for full English and poached egg and salmon breakfast

Like many travellers we arrived at our Jet Lounge@99 with minutes to spare, but fortunately, our hostess did not slam the departure gate in our faces but instead declared, 'yes breakfast is still being served'.

Judging by the comprehensive lunch menu there would have been plenty of good alternatives but a challenge had been set and the Hungry Hack was determined to accept.

Following our well-received review of a nearby High Street cafe's breakfast, we were invited to test out the Jet Lounge@99's offer, and true to our ethos, we arrived unannounced, hand luggage only and an open mind.

Immediately we were put at ease, and while no one puts Baby in the corner, we were quite happy to be given a tucked away table, and the server reassured us we would be fine despite the small chalkboard 'reserved' sign.

In fact, she swapped it with another table allowing us more time to enjoy the meal without being rushed.

The gesture was typical of the first class service we enjoyed throughout. Despite being busy the three waitresses, all very smartly tuned out, were attentive, helpful and pleasant without being gushing.

You will have already picked up on the theme but while the Hungry Hack is not a regular in first class lounges, he does know the difference between a commercial airline space and an intimate former antique shop interior oozing individuality and comfort.

It is clear the owners have taken time to pick out the appropriate nic-nacs, pictures and how they had managed to snaffle the range of crews' headwear which were cleverly displayed, is probably an interesting story in itself.

Now for the food: I went for the Long Haul, a classic English breakfast mix of sausage, bacon, poached eggs (the choice of scrambled or fried was given) portobello mushrooms, black pudding and beans.

Hot, tasty and Suffolk authentic, it probably helps to have a butcher next door, as the sausages and bacon were meaty and tasty in equal measure.

It also came with two rounds of toast and I had already ordered an Americano, which was a good measure and arrived on a tray with water and an almond cookie. I also noticed the wooden aeroplane-style meal tray.

It is the little touches.

Like the latte spoon, which looked like Uri Geller had been there before us - quirky and fun.

My breakfast left me as full as a Ryanair flight to Dublin on the day of a Six Nation's match and it was definitely a good result.

Now, not everyone want to go all the way, so there is also a Short Haul version and plenty of other alternatives on an extensive menu.

One such choice had my companion at poached eggs with salmon, on granary bread with Hollandaise sauce. Like my own eggs, they were perfectly poached, the toast was fresh and the single bone showed a good fillet.

The presentation could have been better and if I'm going to be picky the frayed edges of the plates would suggest they have been around the world a few times.

That doesn't take away from the excellent meal, first class service, lovely setting and at around £30, including tip, for both meals - decent value.

Located on the Hadleigh High Street, with an hour's free parking during the day and all evening, which was a bonus, the Jet Lounge@99 is an outstanding destination, breakfast lunch or evening.

But judging how busy it was late morning during the week, booking ahead would be advisable as many had clearly already done so.

They also do Destinations Night' with special themed nights for different countries' food, live music, or traditional events.
