At the Babergh District Council ("BDC") meeting on Tuesday 21st September 2021 a Hadleigh resident accused the Council of breaking their promise on the introduction of parking charges.

Roger Young, a Hadleigh resident, reminded Councillor Malvisi, Cabinet Member for the Environment, that at a critical BDC meeting on 4th February 2021, when the Council discussed introducing higher parking charges, she said

" … if we are not Covid free, we will revisit the implementation date".

The Council has recently announced higher parking charges starting from 1st January 2022. This contravenes the assurance that Council approved and minuted.

"This action makes a mockery of assurances given to local businesses and residents in Hadleigh by Babergh" said Roger Young.

He also criticised the Strategic Parking Questionnaire on the BDC website. It is meant to be part of the wider public consultation. The questionnaire, with 31 questions, has already been changed. So too has its closing date, because of design errors.

Councillor Malvisi was asked for the questionnaire design specification and the response target sought. Her lengthy reply failed to answer the questions.
