Steve Holder hailed his Hadleigh side after they thumped Newmarket 4-1 at Millfield.
A Kade Ivatt hat trick helped Holder's rejuvenated United to back to back wins and get their season back on track, following their 3-0 win at Haverhill the week before
Holder was delighted that the former Under-15s player, who had a spell with AFC Sudbury, has staked a strong claim to see his starting place.
"I'm really happy for Kade," said Holder He frustrates me at times because he is probably the best finisher at the club if you give him a chance he will finish. But he missed a few good chances of late during our little rut.
"Then he got a very good goal at Lakenheath where we got an important point, he got a chance to start again with others out, so I said to Kade, 'this is your chance again, do well and keep the shirt', and he has done just that."
Ivatt was able assisted by wide men James Ross and Mason Ransome, who also teed up Max Dinnell for his close range finish.
The Brettsiders had been going through a slump, with eight league games without a win, before manager Holder was able to start selecting from a bigger squad again.
"When we have our players available that is what we are capable of," said Holder. "It has been frustrating at times with so may players missing but this showed we are solid at the back again.
"It is massive for us to get those wins. We started off in the league so well then got into a bit of a rut.
"We seem to raise our game against the better teams in the league, if we can get a bit more consistent, then we can start beating those teams around us. I have often said anyone can beat anyone."
Hadleigh got off to a good start with an early Ivatt goal, before conceding sloppy equaliser. They steppe dit up again in the second half and Newmarket could not cope with United's width, sharp passing and incisive attacks.
Holder said: "They didn't really break us down, it was a poor goal to concede although I felt there was a foul in the build up, but even so we should have dealt with it.
"Ben has hardly had to make save but when he was called on he did well, same as at Haverhill.
"The you have players like Jake Eady and you can see how commanding he is, he wins everything in the air and we defended well, then we can leave it for the boys at the other end of the pitch to take their chances."
There will be more fireworks at Millfield on Friday, November 5 with a display starting at 7.30pm. Stever Holder's side are at Long Melford on Saturday and are back at home the following week against Woodbridge Hadleigh fixtures.
