The coronavirus pandemic has made it a lonely time for pensioners in care homes with visits by relatives and friends being necessarily restricted for long periods.

Video calls using Skype, Zoom and FaceTime have become a popular way to keep in touch but residents at Hadleigh Nursing Home are also enjoying more traditional means to keep up social contact – the good old-fashioned pen and paper.

Hadleigh's Community First Responders are putting their new car to good use, attended 21 calls in September arriving first on scene in every case.

The calls include unconscious, stroke, breathing difficulty, chest pains, diabetic emergencies, falls and to others generally unwell, and have seen us travel to Lavenham, Raydon and the outskirts of Ipswich as well as covering the length and breadth of Hadleigh.
