Cemetery extension has been controversial

Hadleigh residents will have to bear the costs of incomplete road construction as part of the controversial cemetery extension, after councillors voted not to take legal action against the contractors involved.

Concerns had been raised that some of the work in Coram Street had not been carried out satisfactorily, but the contractors who had already been paid out on its £430k deal, would not be completing any further updates.

Hadleigh residents on low-incomes and unable to work because they have been asked to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace, can now claim a £500 payment to compensate for loss of earnings.

As part of a nationwide Government scheme, residents in Babergh who are on low incomes and are unable to work because they have been told by NHS Test and Trace that they have to self-isolate can now apply for a lump sum payment from their local councils.
