Did you know?

London Bridge which had been bought by an American from the City of London for £1.78m, was disassembled then rebuilt in the small town of Lake Havasu in 1971. Robert McCulloch, chairman of the McCulloch Oil Corporation and business associate C.V. Wood had concluded that London Bridge was exactly the kind of thing that Lake Havasu needed to make it an attractive resort city and a tourist destination. The gamble paid off and land sales in Lake Havasu City soared. From a population of just a few hundred in the 1960s, the town blossomed to 10,000 by 1974. That year, the bridge drew almost two million visitors to the new city.

Quote of the day:

The thing I'd really like to see is the old London Bridge, with all the old buildings around it like Shakespeare's Globe. I'd like to walk along that. Don't worry, I won't get drunk and fall in.

Alan Davies

Joke of the day:

I bought some new 'London Bridge Jeans'

They keep falling down.
