2nd Dec 2020 | Local News

Hadleigh shoppers have a cornucopia of Christmas goodies to choose from as Hadleigh Nub News launches the first day of its Christmas market, and take you to the various festive events around the town.

Take your pick from an amazing artist, beauticians old fashioned sweets and clothes from local independents, or just buy the lot for all your family and friends.

In no particular order we can bring you to start with:

Maria Louise, an artist living in Hadleigh, who paints a variety of contemporary images and subjects in oils then prints them to 100% cotton cushion covers and shopping bags. She also sell paintings too and you can find more details and see a gallery of her work via her Local List page here...

If you enjoy an inspirational book then Go, Tony, Go! written by a Hadleigh author will be for you. Aimed at key stage one children, it is based on Tony Hudgell, the five-year-old who walked 10km inspired by Captain Tom, despite the fact he had no legs.

This positive, and charming book is written by Sarah Kingdon-Ward as a not for profit venture, with all proceeds going to the Evelina London Children's Hospital.

Go, Tony, Go! is available through Blue Poppy Publishing or through Ferguson's Deli and The Idler bookshop in Hadleigh. It is also available directly via email [email protected].

Many of us will have spent most of the month indoors and could be in need of some extra tidying up and that is where the high end Aveda hair salon and Barbers comes in to its own. They are offering a one in one out service on Wednesdays and Fridays to the vulnerable clients.

Their barber also offers a gents only service on Sundays - and on Mondays they have a clinic for Botox and fillers, or better known as aesthetic enhancements, with a local doctor who also has a clinic in Harley Street.

Double Take are also offering gift vouchers and currently have Christmas gift boxes available in the salon from £18 to £40.

Go to Double Take Salon for more details. They also have their own Facebook pages @doubletakehadleigh and @doubletakebarber

We all love an extra bit of sweetness over the festive period and that is where Nina's Sweet Memories and her shop on the High Street comes in. Pop in and choose from an amazing array of old favourites to satisfy the whole family.

Nina also offers an amazing array of Vintage Clothing in a huge walk-in wardrobe upstairs from the sweet shop with everything from chic to denim cut offs, and classy accessories to match.

Meanwhile, the Christmas Present Trust, which was set up in 2015 and exists to provide a free meal and entertainment to anyone in Hadleigh and the surrounding area who, for whatever reason, cannot be with family or friends on Christmas Day, is offering a free meal on the day.

This is open to anyone who would normally have gone to the Ansell Centre, but this time it will be delivered to their door (in a COVID secure way). Simon at the Trust is asking people to get in touch if they feel that they would benefit from this or they know someone else who would benefit from it, or call 829246.

If you have young children and need time to go shopping, or just to give yourself a break, get in touch with Top Patch Minding.

Hopefully, we will all be back in tier one soon but even now you can enjoy events over the festive period.

Hadleigh School House is putting on a POETRY SLAM at the turn of the year, featuring John McCullogh and also the Reckless Paper Birds. Go to our What's One page to find out more and how to book your tickets.
