A drug dealer caught acting suspiciously in a Hadleigh car park have been given nine month jail term, suspended for 18months.

Adam Stiff, of of The Street, Raydon, admitted being concerned in the supply of cannabis, was also handed a 30 day rehabilitation activity requirement and ordered to do 80 hours unpaid work.

The 37-year-old was caught in a Hadleigh car park by police who saw him acting suspiciously in the afternoon of 6 November.

Ipswich Crown Court heard he was found by police officers to have an ounce of cannabis, £995 cash and notes and a list containing the names of customers.

His phone was examined by police and found a picture of him with a set of scales and flowering heads of cannabis.

During sentencing Judge Martyn Levett spoke of how market towns, like Hadleigh, were becoming flooded with drugs and police had a very difficult job in trying to contain and prevent the proliferation of drug use in local communities.

Judge Levitt also told the court Stiff had been running "a cottage industry" supplying drugs to a group of people for about two months.

In mitigation, Nicola May for Stiff said her client had turned his life around and had two jobs.
