New owners for Elmsett Post Office and stores set to take over today

Elmsett's thriving post office and stores has today been taken over by new owners, it has been confirmed.

Hadleigh couple Julian Edwards and Sasha Lawrence, have bought the premises through their company Suffolk 'N' Good Limited, which was formed last November, and are set reopen officially on Tuesday morning.

Confirmation of the purchase is an ideal celebration for former manager Sasha who is 51 this month, and also enjoys DJing in her spare time, when parties are allowed, handy with a pub next door.

A former Trustee at Hadleigh Foodbank Charity who resigned in March this year, Mrs Lawrence is a business and IT governance manager. Her partner, Mr Edwards, who will mark his 47th birthday this month, is a former sales director and currently a Hermes courier driver.

The couple completed the sale of their £239,000 house in Benton Street, Hadleigh yesterday (April 3) which completed the chain.

Located next to the Rose & Crown pub and opposite the playing fields in the heart of Elmsett, close to the neighbouring village of Aldham and a five miles from Hadleigh, the post office and stores, with adjoining 3-bedroom period house also includes two bathrooms and two reception rooms.

It was on the market which was on the market with Hadleigh estate agents Chapman Stickels, with a guide price of £379,000, that also sold the new owners' home in Benton Street.

The post office and stores have been in the hands of the Hinton family since 2013 and it is expected the currents staff will keep their jobs.

According to Chapman and Stickels, Elmsett Post Office & Store already has a loyal customer base. The store turnover for the year ending 31 March 2019 was £242,535, generating a gross profit for the same period of £58,387 (24%).

The store also receives a Post Office salary of approximately £17,000, which has increased over the last year, with the latest 12-month period up to 29 February 2020 equating to £17,338.
