More than 98.5% of pupils received a place at one of their preferred secondary school, including Hadleigh High School, on National Offer Day

This year, Suffolk County Council (SCC) received 7,768 applications from parents indicating at which secondary school they would prefer their child to be educated from September 2022.

Suffolk council has confirmed 7,339 pupils received offers for their first preference school and 7,652 pupils received an offer for one of their three preferred schools.

While most parents in Hadleigh and surrounding villages send their child to Hadleigh High, some prefer not to and apply to other secondary schools in Ipswich or Sudbury.

Families who applied online are able to log on to the Admissions Portal from today to see their child's offer. They will also receive an email to confirm this offer. Letters will be sent to parents who made a paper application by second class post today (1 March).

If a family does not have receive a place at their preferred school, their child's name will automatically be added to the waiting list for that school. Parents will also be advised on how to lodge an appeal should they wish to do so.

Councillor Rachel Hood, Suffolk County Council's Cabinet Member for Education, SEND and Skills, said: "It is excellent news, that the vast majority of families have once again been offered a place at one of their preferred schools. Published criteria was used to decide who has priority for places so that the process is fair and clear.

"Starting secondary school is a big step in a child's education and the more we can do to make the transition to a new school smoother for them, the better."

Once school places have been confirmed, parents need to consider how their child will get to and from school. If their child is eligible for SCC funded school travel they will receive an email by the end of March 2022 with details of how to opt-in.
