Hadleigh has been confirmed as the King of the Sprint part of the Tour of Britain when it comes through Suffolk on September 7.

Elite mens cyclists will whizz through the town centre during Stage Five of the race, which starts and finishes in Felixstowe on that Thursday.

The prizes for sprint winners are still being decided, but could contribute towards the final places.

Meanwhile, two hills on the Shotley peninsula will earn some of the world's top cyclists extra points when the Tour of Britain takes place on September 7.

Freston Hill and Holbrook Hill have been chosen as the 'Ling of the Mountains' part of Stage Five, which starts and finishes in Felixstowe.

The Tour of Britain racers will come through the heart of the peninsula, taking in Freston, Woolverstone, Chelmondiston and as far at the Corner Garage in Shotley.

Riders will then head to Erwarton, Harkstead and Holbrook, while Brantham, Stutton and Tattingstone will see the race.

The Sprint part of the race will whizz through Hadleigh town centre..

The points earned in each challenge – which will appear in other legs of the competition – will go towards deciding the ultimate winner for each category.

Previous King of the Mountains jersey winners include 2010 Tour de France champion, Andy Schleck, in 2006, and Grand Tour stage winner, Thomas De Gendt, from 2009.

Point allocation in the challenge depends on the difficulty of the ascent.

Category one peaks, which represent the toughest climbs, award 10 points, descending to one point for the person in 10th place.

In contrast, Suffolk's climb is considered category three – with between one and four points up for grabs.

The whole race starts in Manchester on September 3 and finishes on September 10.
