Hadleigh Post Office and the First Class Greetings shop has closed for the rest of the day as a precaution following a Covid incident this morning.

A customer visiting the post office is thought to have shown signs of Covid-19 symptoms and after being physically helped by staff the decision was taken to close the building for the rest of the day.

Staff in the shop are now isolating but different workers will be on duty to tomorrow, which will allow the post office and shop to reopen tomorrow, Saturday, from 09.00.

A notice was posted by Post Office staff which said: "This is due to a customer visiting our premises showing possible symptoms of COVID 19 and needing physical assistance from our staff.

"This means that this team will now have to self isolate.

"We will reopen tomorrow Saturday 9th January 2121 with a different team of colleagues.

"To avoid further long term closure please DO NOT ENTER if you have any possible symptoms."

A Post Office spokesperson added: "Hadleigh Post Office has closed today as a precaution as a customer was feeling unwell. The staff have gone for Covid-19 tests. A deep clean has taken place. The branch will re-open tomorrow with different staff."

The post office and shop also took the precaution of closing last March when a member of staff caught a cold, which showed similar symptoms as the coronavirus.
