Hadleigh's Covid related deaths highest in Suffolk

More Covid-related deaths have been recorded in Hadleigh than anywhere else in Suffolk, according to new data released by the Office for National Statistics.

An outbreak in the town last November accounted for 26 people dying in that month alone, with coronavirus mentioned on the death certificate.

There have been 28 deaths in Hadleigh between March and the end of November according to he figures.

Further afield, 17 deaths involving coronavirus were recorded in both Beccles and the Stowmarket Outer, Finborough and Battisford area.

Confirmed cases on the coronavirus have risen once again in the Babergh district, which includes Hadleigh and surrounding villages with 550 cases reported in the week leading up to January 6, with 483 in neighbouring Mid-Suffolk.

The figures are among the lowest in in the county, with East Suffolk Council area recording the most with more than 1,000 in a single week.

As of the 6 January there were 16,859 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Suffolk. In total there have been 2,214 cases of Covid-19 per 100,000 people.
