Two weeks of sports, swimming, art, and fun are planned for the Easter school holidays in Hadleigh from Monday. 

Young people looking forward to the spring school break can take part in a wide range of activities across Babergh.

Firm favourites like swimming sessions for all ages are taking place at Hadleigh Pool and Leisure and Sudbury's Kingfisher Leisure Centre,.

There are six new providers added to the timetable, including The Hut in Needham Market, run by The Mix – with drop-in sessions for Easter crafts, escape rooms and a 'live art wall' with local artist Joel Millerchip all taking place over the two-week break. 

Inspire Suffolk is also providing holiday sessions, letting young people test their cooking, crafts and performing arts skills at Hadleigh's Porch Project Youth Centre.

There are also several sports to get involved in with hockey, netball and football all in one day at sessions in Stradbroke and Botesdale. Plus, children in Great Blakenham can enjoy a morning of science experiments, crafts and games at holiday clubs at the village hall's recreation ground.

Abbeycroft Leisure's family park cooking sessions are back on the menu and return to the outdoors for the first time in 2023, with sessions in Stowmarket, Sudbury, Hadleigh, Eye and Woolpit. As well as a great opportunity to learn some new skills, every family attending will get a food box with recipes and ingredients to last a whole week – also helping to tackle holiday hunger. 

Further activities are also being hosted over the fortnight in Claydon, Stowupland, Great Cornard, Brantham and Chelmondiston.

Children who qualify for free school meals can attend a number of the sessions for free, thanks to the Government's Holiday Activity Fund (HAF). 

A Babergh spokesperson said: "HAF funding makes a huge difference to families over school holidays and is just one of the ways we can help to tackle holiday hunger in our districts – with Abbeycroft's cooking sessions also giving families the skills to cook and eat more affordable meals.  

"We work hard to make sure every child can enjoy the holidays, which is why we provide such a variety of sessions for them to try. The programme is spread across the districts and has something for all ages, and we encourage all the young people living in our districts to try something new this Easter."
