A former Hadleigh town council clerk will have to wait for nearly a year for a crown court trial after denying theft charges.

Diane Stroh, who worked for Hadleigh's town council on a temporary basis in 2020, denied stealing £1,179.45 while she had previously worked for Sproughton parish council.

Stroh, of The Street, Bramford, appeared before Ipswich Crown Court on Friday afternoon for a plea and trial preparation where she pleaded not guilt to the alleged offence between August 23, 2019, and October 31, 2019.

But due to a backlog caused by the coronavirus pandemic affecting a number of defendants, Stroh's trial will not be heard until a two-week warned list commencing July 18 next year.

The 55-year-old Stroh was given unconditional bail.
