Sunday's Sensation

TE Lawrence, renowned soldier and writer known as 'Lawrence of Arabia', was born on this day in 1888. Lawrence left the army, but enlisted with the RAF in 1933 and served at the RAF Marine Aircraft Experimental Establishment at Felixstowe, which it is understood included visits to HMS Ganges in Suffolk. He died two years later, aged 46, in a motorbike accident. Full story
