Angela Gregg has been reinstated as a trustee to the Hadleigh Foodbank Charity after an internal investigation cleared her of any wrongdoing.
Ms Gregg, who is also a Hadleigh town councillor, faced a number of allegations of inappropriate spending and accounting by Hadleigh Foodbank's founding member Neil Bevis (full story here...)
An investigation was launched into the accusations and Ms Gregg voluntarily stepped aside while charity trustees looked into Mr. Bevis' allegations and to ensure the continuation of vital supply and services to 90 households a week.
After consulting accountants and a solicitor, and reviewing all the necessary documentation available, the Hadleigh Foodbank Charity trustees concluded there was no wrongdoing by Ms Gregg and said in a statement: "The Trustees of Hadleigh Foodbank Charity, conclude, accept, and agree, that the bookkeeping is accounted for period 1/1/20 – 16/9/20 and that all funds for this period appear to have been spent appropriately.
"Hadleigh Foodbank Charity has been set up and approved by the Charity Commission with full Constitution, Policies and Procedures (some currently in draft) in place to ensure total transparency and accountability. Year-end accounts will be prepared by the charity's appointed accountants and in line with regulatory requirements.
"We can conclude that the Hadleigh Foodbank Charity has responded to Mr. Bevis' allegations against Hadleigh Foodbank, and to disassociate any financial involvement with Mr Bevis and any organisation he is associated with.
"The trustees can find no evidence, during period 1st January 2020 to date to prevent Ms Gregg returning to the Board of Trustees of the Hadleigh Foodbank Charity 1191326, and will reinstate her to the Charity Board of Trustees from 28th October 2020. This will ensure that the Charity can continue to provide the services we offer our recipients."
As part of the ongoing process the trustees and accountants have asked Mr. Bevis for his co-operation or access permission to:
o The Hadleigh Foodbank PayPal account (running from inception to date that the Hadleigh Foodbank bank account was opened 01 January 2020.o Original Foodbank Gmail Account – user name and password.
o The Sum Up Card user name and password Mr Bevis has replied to Nub News' opportunity to respond but declined to comment.
