Neil Bevis has ended his involvement with Hadleigh Food Bank in a row with the charity's partner Angela Gregg over allegations of financial irregularities.

Mr Bevis announced on social media he was terminating his partnership with Mrs Gregg at the food bank he set up in January, 2018, and was joined by Mrs Gregg 14 months ago.

Cracks in the running of Hadleigh Food Bank began at the end of August when Mr Bevis claims he asked Mrs Gregg for a copy of the accounts from January to August this year following concerns about irregularities, which he said she was initially reluctant to do so. When Mr Bevis did receive a version of the accounts he found 206 anomalies which he wanted answers about. He has subsequently been removed from the bank account.

An allegation of inappropriate behaviour regarding the computer recycling scheme, working with Suffolk County Council, have also been made against Mrs Gregg by Mr Bevis who claims an attempt was made to remove him from the organisation's bank account, his food bank key not returned and .

He has also expressed concerns over inappropriate spending on flowers and a night out for volunteers paid for by food bank funds, expenses and other spending has been questioned. This includes the costs incurred for the Hadleigh Fayre and attempts to have a meeting with Mrs Gregg and issues discussed was rebuffed

Mr Bevis said in a statement: "I take no pleasure in bringing this into a public forum and would have preferred to have resolved this situation with Angela, however with the sequence of the events unfolding over the past months, it has been clear she felt she did not need to answer to me for her actions and felt that removing me from the organisation I created was a more favourable option to her.

"I believe the foodbank to have been managed inappropriately by Angela Gregg, with many issues yet to be answered about the use of generously donated public money. I will endeavour to move forward and continue to support the community with a new enterprise, where I will be working closely with other agencies to help the people of Hadleigh in an open and transparent way."

Mrs Gregg, who was elected Hadleigh Town Council deputy town mayor last month, has been approached for comment.

We are also waiting for responses from Suffolk County Council and Suffolk Police.
