This years Hadleigh Christmas Fayre was back after last year's cancellation.

The Fayre was aiming to bring the whole town together in an evening of music, food, crafts and shopping, celebrating the Christmas season.

Mayor Frank Minns said: "We knew that we wanted to get something to get people back to the high street.

"Through Babergh District Council we used the welcome back fund, which gave us the framework to pay for the road closure and the road marshalls that have to be in place for an event like this.

"We asked people who were interested if they would like to help so we got Acorn Events and Trev Clarke who has an events company, and they were able to organise the entertainment for this evening.

"There's getting on for 50 plus stalls involved, the furthest anyones come is ealing, I believe.

"It all just seemed to come together. I am really thrilled by the number of people who have come and the weather held up great.

"It's been a great evening and I'm really really happy with it."

Jan Devy was given the honour of switching on the Hadleigh lights, as she was the community champion last year for her organisation of the volunteers in the vaccination programme throughout the pandemic.

Mayor Minns, was involved in judging the Christmas Fayre competition which had categories such as: The best dressed shop, the best dressed house near the High street and the two best stalls at the Fayre.

The winners of each category are as followed:

Best Dressed Shop window: Erivica Cakes

The best dressed house: Sycamore House in Church Walk

The two best stall holders: Applewood Acres, Happy Sunshine Studios

The event also involved carol singers, live bands, food and drink, a strange tinsel monster and many other festive treats.
