After wins over Mildenhall and Maldon, Hadleigh were looking to make it three victories in succession in their league campaign.

However, Simon Manthorpe's side were left with an uphill battle when they were bowled all out for 183 after second placed Coggeshall won the toss and put them in to bat first.

Opener Isaac Toombs hit nine fours in his 58 from 75 balls before being caught by Jimmy Rees from a Kane Addison delivery.

Marlon Diaz was going well with a six and four fours in his 23 runs from 21 balls before he was bowled by Joshua Colairo for just 31.

Addison also took skipper Josh Davey's wicket for a mere three runs, and Josh Bowyer for 10 runs, finishing with three wickets for 18 runs.

Thomas Piddington (31) Dominic Manthorpe (27) and wicket keeper Callum Morrin (two) all went to the bowling of Robert Jagger as the middle order collapsed.

The tail end were quickly despatched and when Lewis Millions was out for a duck after just four ball, Hadleigh knew they faced a tough task against the second placed side..

Manthorpe took revenge on Coggeshall opener Jagger by bowling him for 18 runs and also took the wickets of top scorer William Blackwell (51) and Robert Cross, helped by coaches from Millions and Morrin respectively.

The coach's son also helped dismiss Even Botha and Oliver Rooney with catches from the bowling of Kyle Tanner.

However, despite Manthorpe's efforts along with Daniel Shanks bowling five maiden overs and taking two wickets for just nine runs and the Essex side's skipper Lloyd Edwards caught and bowled by Kudzai Maunze, Coggeshall eased to the maximum 20 point victory.

Next up for the men's first team at Friars Road is Wivenhoe CC on Saturday, June 11, 12noon start.
