Reader's Letter: The local play ground next to the old council offices is a joke

I write as someone who lives very close to this playground and walk my dog and take my grandchildren to use the play area.

Firstly I have noticed that cars wishing to park at the playground and use the area to walk or play with their toddlers often have to go out as the parking area because of the vans and huge cars which was never meant to be used by the builders who are parking there and often there is no space left.

it doesn't effect me as I'm always on foot.

Secondly……the new slide……fitted about two months back is really not fit for purpose as it's facing 'the wrong way". When children using the slide come down it they are just a couple of feet away from this very busy car park……mentioned before……and before the parent etc is aware…..the child is out of the play area and in danger.

Now I know it's the responsibility of parents etc etc but if you are right over the other side with another child …..it's quite far enough to run and help the child.

it's facing the wrong way….it should face the opposite way and so the child exits the bottom of the slide safely and parents etc etc can see their child.

Plus it's a well known fact we have moles. They love the play area and have done for years and years……everywhere there is evidence of them.

That being the case why oh why fit a type of rubber matting that is now a trip hazard as it's really uneven etc etc.

Go and look at it……as it's a joke …..and who ever fitted the two pieces of equipment need to rethink this again.

That's about it…..I could go on……the new bridge which I have never been able to use as it's impossible with a push chair etc etc.

Yours,

Julie Dawson
