The Spirit of Guthrum’s Seasonal Word Search

It's Christmastime again. The time of year when we stop razing villages and start raising glasses. And pass the time with riddles and conundrums. We Vikings loved riddles back in the day. Riddles like this:

I yearn to have / what I had yesterday.

What do I long for, my lord?

It hurts men / and hinders words,

yet also elevates speech.

Got it? The answer's 'Ale'.

Not gonna lie, it's not a great example. What can I say. We had to make our own entertainment.

Squire Derek reckons our riddles are like your modern Christmas cracker jokes. The cheek, by Frigg. He suggested I bring things bang up to date with a modern-style puzzle. Challenge accepted...

Hidden in this wordsearch are 60 words and phrases associated with me, King Guthrum.

They are all listed below. The words and phrases can read horizontally, vertically, diagonally, forwards or backwards, up or down. Words can overlap, obvs, but not totally. So 'King' won't be in 'Viking' – you get me?

Once you have found them all, only 19 characters will be left unused. Those 19 characters give the location of my burial spot – and of my royal treasure hoard. Swear down.

Good luck, and a Merry Yule to all my subjects!
