Dear Readers,

We're delighted to be standing as the Green Party's candidates for Hadleigh South (Jane & Alex) and Hadleigh North (Simon) in the district council election on Thursday 4th May.

Living locally for many years, we're very much aware of how the lives of everyone in Hadleigh have changed – traffic is much busier, local businesses have closed down, our precious green spaces are under ever greater threat – and we're fully committed to taking action to reverse those trends so that Hadleigh continues to be a wonderful place to live.

Talking to many of you over the past months, it's clear the Green Party has wide support in the town. People want district councillors who work hard for them all year round, not just turning up at election time. In both Hadleigh wards, the Greens have every chance of winning a straight fight with the Conservatives – neither the Lib Dems nor Labour can win here. With your support, we can use the clout of being councillors to get action on the key issues you've raised with us. We will be a strong and independent team, speaking up for you on the district council and beyond.

The Green Party is fielding a full slate of candidates in Babergh, including for all three of Hadleigh's seats, and we have the chance to really make a difference - a Green vote genuinely counts this time around. Babergh Greens will:

Ø  Fight inappropriate development and deliver new affordable housing

Ø Hold developers and builders to account to ensure they meet planning conditions and behave with consideration

Ø Improve council housing to lower energy bills and ensure tenants' homes are properly maintained

Ø Develop sustainable transport choices for everyone

Ø Protect and enhance our local environment
