Suffolk Year 12 student named US youth female sailing champion

A year 12 pupil from RHS in Holbrook , has been hailed fo her remarkable achievement as the 2023 US Youth Female ILCA 6 Champion at Mount Hope Bay. 

Competing against more than 230 sailors from nine countries, Audrey Foley displayed exceptional skills and determination that propelled her to the top of the competition.

The event, held on the prestigious Roger Williams University campus in Bristol, Rhode Island, marked the largest ever Youth Championship, making Audrey's victory even more impressive. 

The US Youth Championship serves as the qualifying event for World Sailing's 2023 Youth World Championship where Audrey will now compete.

US Sailing Youth Competition Manager John Pearce added: "Hosting such a prestigious event on Mount Hope Bay was a source of great pride.

"We extend our best wishes to Audrey as she currently competes in Poland, representing our school and her nation on the international stage."
