A hat-trick and an assist from Tom Warren left Hadleigh boss Steve Holder purring after their 4-2 home win over Premier Division play-off challengers Harleston Town.

Owen Betts from the Warren assist after a clever, quick free kick from Harry Blackburn found the lively Warren on the left flank, he beat his man and played in a low cross for Hadleigh's second goal.

It was an almost perfect performance for 80 minutes as Hadleigh raced into a 3-0 half-time lead as they put Danny Crow's Harleston under the hammer.

Warren completed his hat-trick in the second half when he pounced on through ball from Max Dinnell and finish with ease.

Evergreen skipper Carlos Edwards bossed the midfield and saw a well struck free kick saved by Elliott Pride, while Joel Glover could have had couple of goals.

But it was Warren that took the man of the match accolade on the day dedicated to Hadleigh legend John Day and Holder is delighted to see his progression.

It was a good day for the Warren family with brother Charlies netting twice in the Seasiders' 3-1 win at Wroxham,

"Tom is superb. He started here as a left back but he is so good he drives forward and past players. You know what you are going to get with Tom, he is like his brother Charlies at Felixstowe who is a very good player too..

"Tom affects the game so much when he is further forward and bring in Harry Blackburn from Felixstowe releases Town to attack even more. The pair work together so well down that left hand side.

"We played the same formation at Lakenheath and it worked so we kept it and just want to go for it more."

The visitors took advantage of a flurry of late substitutions as Holder gave his youngsters, including new signing Liam Pearce a run out, but it was Town's substitutes Asa McGeachy and Brandon Pickess that took advantage of the gaps and poor defending to skew the scoreline.

"The games done at 4-0 so we made a few changes to give people minutes but Harleston are a physical side and took advantage," said Holder. "But we got over the line, it is back to back wins and another three points. We would have liked the clean sheet too but it wasn't to be."

Askew was brought in to cover from long serving Hadleigh keeper Nick Punter who is out with a broken finger and Holder has been impressed with the former Sudbury and Stowmarket goalie.

He added: "James didn't have to make any saves, but when he has been called on he commanded his box so it was same we could not keep a clean sheet for him."

Hadleigh have moved into the top 10 and look for three wins in a row when they take on Heacham at Millfield next Saturday.
