Hadleigh United football manager Steve Holder has taken a break from running the first team after falling ill.

The club issued a statement on social media after Holder, who has been feeling unwell for some time, announced he would be taking some time off following their 8-0 League Cup victory over Whitton United at Millfield on Tuesday.

Holder has led free scoring Hadleigh to second placed in the Thurlow Nub Eastern Counties Premier and recently went on a 10 game unbeaten run.

His assistants Ben Elliot and Liam Scopes will be in charge of the side on Saturday when they take on Walsham Le Willows in a league game.

Although still registered as player-manager, Holder has focussed on managing the side this season. Last year he suffered a serious chest injury when he was clattered in a challenge with a goalkeeper and had to be taken to hospital with damage to a lung and broken ribs.
