Nub News gets UP CLOSE with impresario Ian Grutchfield who has mixed with Doctor Who, Wallace and Gromit and the Teletubbies and is now looking to sprinkle stardust on the arts venue by introducing burlesque, drag acts, poetry, concerts and art exhibitions, among other things, to Hadleigh.

With its hammer beam roof, relatively spacious auditorium and wonderful acoustics, Hadleigh Old School is an impressive venue tucked away off Bridge Street, on the main drag in Hadleigh' town centre. Totally fitting then, that its venue director and co-owner, should be a larger than life character oozing enthusiasm, energy and positivity.

Hadleigh town councillor Angela Gregg has responded to a list of allegations of financial irregularities made against her in regards to her position within Hadleigh Foodbank.

Babergh councillors are united in their response to the Government's Planning for the Future consultation – insisting that proposals must not be at the detriment of local communities and should not lose focus on the challenges facing rural areas, like Hadleigh and its neighbouring villages.

At last month's annual council meeting, councillors voted in favour of a cross-party response to two Government consultation papers outlining major changes in planning. Babergh submitted its feedback on proposed short-term amendments to the current planning system shortly afterwards.

Babergh now has the highest rate of coronavirus infections in Suffolk and concerns are growing that the 40-69 age group was becoming the most infected.

Stuart Keeble, director for public health in Suffolk, revealed Babergh, which includes Hadleigh and surrounding villages, now has 63 cases per 100,000 of the population and that has increased from 18 since the beginning of October.

South Suffolk MP James Cartlidge, who vote against extending the £15-a-week school meal vouchers, claimed more than £54,000 in expenses, according to the latest figures available.

Nub News can reveal Mr Cartlidge, whose constituency includes hadleigh and surrounding villages, claimed £2,860.33 per month alone in accommodation costs, totalling nearly £33,000. He also claimed £5,815 in travel expenses from his home in Assington near Sudbury.
