Did you know?

Phoradendron is the scientific name for mistletoe, meaning 'thief of the tree' in Greek. The word mistletoe comes from an observation in Anglo-Saxon times it often grew around bird poo. 'Mistal' meant 'dung' and 'tan' was 'twig. In Norse mythology, mistletoe's white berries were the tears of the goddess Frigga which restored to life her murdered son Balder.

So think on when you next want to kiss under the mistletoe.

The mistletoe hung in the castle hall,

The holly branch shone on the old oak wall.

Thomas Haynes Bayly

Joke of the day

Instead of mistletoe, we should hang up green citrus fruits, so when you stand under them, you'll feel sublime.
