Babergh District planning committee members will decide next week on a proposal to build a Starbucks on the outskirts of Hadleigh.

Councillors will be asked to follow the recommendation by planning officers to approve the application for the erection of a coffee shop with drive through facility, associated vehicular access, circulation, parking and landscaping, on condition of being satisfied that a permanent right of access across the site is legally binding.

The site at Weavers Meadow, which will be accessed by the bypass A1071, and is part of land owned by Babergh which already has planning permission for retail, industrial and employment use.

Documents supporting the scheme show the coffee outlet would bring in up to 20 jobs, and provide investment to the town.

Hadleigh Town Council, which includes Weavers Meadow resident Bill Wilson, do not want the Starbucks and have objected to the decision makers.
