Greens won two out of three Babergh seats in Hadleigh and came close to clinching the third as the Tories were wiped out in the town.

Simon Dowling took Hadleigh North from Sian Dawson with Hadleigh town mayor Gordon McLeod coming in third.

Cllr Dowling took 230 votes, with all the other candidates getting less than 200 in a 30.4% turnout.

In Hadleigh South, Green Party member Jane Carruthers won the seat with 538 votes, her colleague Alex Parvu came close to replacing Kathryn Grandon who clung on after a recount,

The turn out was 30.1% and 155 ballot papers were rejected as being spoiled in some way.

The Greens enjoyed a bumper set of results, both in Babergh and neighbouring Mid-Suffolk.

In Babergh they now have a group of 10, The Independents have nine, the Conservatives seven, Lib Dems four and Labour one.
