Did you know?

Wallis Simpson was divorced at Ipswich Assizes Court on this day in 1936, paving the way for her to marry King Edward VIII, which eventually led to his abdication. While waiting for the hearing Mrs Simpson lived in Felixstowe and said in her autobiography how much she hated the town. It is widely known she and the King would nip across from Levington to Pin Mill and enjoy their courtship in the Butt & Oyster.
