Did you know?

George Orwell, who is in the news today after it was revealed his books such as Animal Farm and 1984 are to be banned from the school curriculum, took his surname from our lovely Suffolk river. Eric Arthur Blair spent several summers at his parents' house in Southwold and from there explored what is now within the Suffolk Coast & Heath AONB, falling in love with the Orwell adorned with yachts and flocks of wading birds.
