The traditional Essex and Suffolk Hunt will return on Bank Holiday Monday, it has been confirmed.

After missing out last Boxing Day due to covid restrictions, and the hunt never taking place on a Sunday, dozens of horses and hounds will now meet at 10.45am on December 27 at Holbecks Park.

Participants, followers and objectors of the controversial hunt have been warned parking will not be permitted at Hadleigh United's Millfield car park in Tinkers Lane, as they are playing Brantham that morning, with an 11.45am kick off.

James Buckle from the Essex & Suffolk Hunt said: "The Essex & Suffolk Hunt is delighted to be meeting at Holbeck's Park this year and to avoid disappointment, we want to give our followers, local residents and supporters as much notice as possible that hounds will meet on Monday 27th December instead of on Boxing Day itself, which falls on a Sunday this year.

"We hope that people can plan their festivities to ensure they are still able to show their support for our hounds at the traditional Boxing Day meet."

As fox hunting has been banned since 2004, the hounds from the Layham based hunt will chase a trail across land at Holbeck's Park, with the permission of the land owners.
