After a recent vote by the members of Babergh (South Suffolk) Liberal Democrats, we are excited to announce that Tom Bartleet has been confirmed as the Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the South Suffolk constituency.

Tom has lived in and around South Suffolk for the last 30 years and currently lives near Boxford.

After obtaining a degree in economics at university, he spent 20 years rising to senior management levels in both London and New York with a global broker. The following 10 years he ran his own successful insurance business serving clients across the UK.

On hearing the news of his selection as PPC, Tom said that he was looking forward to making a difference for the constituents of South Suffolk.

He added: "Like most people that I talk to, I am totally disillusioned by the state of UK politics. But I have the time and the energy to do something about it and make change happen. That's why it's my aim to become the next MP for South Suffolk so that I can help people and properly represent you in Parliament."

Mr Bartfleet will be up against Conservative incumbent James Cartlidge in what is considered by the Tories as a safe seat.

No other party has yet declared their candidate.
