Did you know?

Oxford professor Charles Dodgson presented a little girl called Alice Liddell with a handwritten manuscript of a story she had inspired him to write, on this day in 1864. It was called Alice's Adventures Under Ground. Dodgson's tale was published in 1865 as 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll'. Alice's shop in Oxford at 83, St. Aldates was the inspiration for a whole chapter in the Alice in Wonderland stories.
