There were congratulations all round as Hadleigh Nursing Home's staff and residents tasted success in the first round of The Great Kingsley Bake-Off.

Six of Kingsley Healthcare's East Anglia homes - Spring Lodge, in Woolverstone, Oaklands, near Diss, Woodbridge Lodge, Allonsfield House, near Wickham Market and Downham Grange, in Downham Market, along with Hadleigh - are paying homage to Mary Berry et al with the Great Kingsley Bake-Off.

In the first week of a three week challenge, they were asked to demonstrate their culinary skills with a signature bake – making a speciality of their home.

Hadleigh Nursing Home manager Jan Seal said: "It's a great event to get staff and residents involved. Some of our residents have really shown off their baking talent."

Spring Lodge and Downham Grange were first week runners-up and will be aiming to go one better for round two, the technical bake, and round three, the showstopper.

Each week, the homes are given a clue as to what to bake; for this week's technical bake, the clue is: decorated as a Prima Ballerina.

Each week the winners and runners-up will receive voucher prizes.
