A long running successful Hadleigh charity has rebranded to reflect its widening range of services.

Hadleigh Foodbank Charity, run by Angela Gregg, is now known as the Fresh Start Charity to reflect that they are not just a food bank and offer many more services than just supporting the community with food and toiletries.

The charity has shops in Hadleigh High Street and Kersey Mill but also runs events across the area.

Fresh Start chair Mrs Gregg said: "We changed the name of the charity to Fresh Start Charity as it reflects a lot of the support we offer giving people a chance and a fresh start.

"The Fresh Start Shops are still going to be to support the Hadleigh Foodbank."

The move came about after charity trustees and volunteers spoke to members of the community and found many gaps in the support they could access.

Mrs Gregg added: "There were few activities that all children could attend, so we formed Hadleigh Youth Academy and after last year's success we are providing seven different activities this Easter and Summer school holidays.

"Bookings to attend can be made via our website."

These are funded by Suffolk county council Holiday and Food (HAF)activity programme.

Fresh Start has also a community bike club, Hadleigh Foodbikes, is part of Cycle UK and will be offering free bike maintenance and servicing.

They can use routes led by professional cyclists and bike ability training is available for those not so confident on the roads.

The charity has a number of bikes that can be borrowed if people don't have their own.

Due to its success and popularity, Fresh Start is looking for additional volunteers and trustees.

Mr Gregg said: "All this would not be possible without the support of the trustees and volunteers of the Charity.

"We opened at Kersey Mill one year ago and we continue to grow and support the needs of our community and listen to what they need and fill the gaps where we can.

We are looking for more volunteers and trustees as the more opinions and ideas that can be shared mean we can continue to grow and thrive as a charity.

"If you'd like to be part of this successful charity please get in touch via our website www.hadleighfoodbank.org".

Meanwhile, other HAF activities are being run by Abbeycroft Leisure and Active Suffolk in conjunction with Babergh. (Full story here)
