Swinging Christmas in Hadleigh
Swinging Christmas in Hadleigh

Years ago, in his Christmas TV show, Andy Williams' new song proclaimed, 'It's The Most Wonderful Time of The Year'. This wonderfully joyous tune still resonates with me, turning my thoughts to the seasonal offering at Hadleigh Jazz Club at which it was performed, last year.

This year, Jazz at The Movies – A Swinging Christmas celebrate ten years of sold-out shows at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in Soho. Jazz at The Movies feature singer Joanna Eden, who was the long-term vocal mentor to pop superstar and Grammy Award winner Sam Smith. Joanna is backed by Hadleigh Jazz Club favourites the Chris Ingham Quartet, described by Jazz Journal as "One of the finest combos in the country."

As well as Ronnie Scott's, the group's sixteen-date tour also includes The Royal Albert Hall's Elgar Room, St John's Smith Square and the Pizza Express Jazz Club in Dean Street, Soho. They come to Hadleigh Town Hall on Saturday 17 December.

HJC promotor George Double told me that he's been: "Absolutely delighted with the success of the Christmas gigs over the years."

So much so, that he is able to offer two performances. The evening performance has already sold out, but the 3pm matinee still has limited availability.
