Hadleigh residents have already started putting in objections to a proposed Starbucks being built at Weavers' Meadow on the edge of Hadleigh.

Agents for the coffee chain have applied for planning permission to erect a drive-through unit with associated signage and landscaping on the site alongside the A1070.

Starbucks claim the development would 'enhance the area as a whole, providing additional employment opportunities which in turn will benefit the local area.'

It is envisaged up to 20 new jobs could be created and supporting documents claim the towns first Starbucks would have a 'trickle-down effect', and boost Hadleigh's economy.

The application shows 25 car parking spaces, including two electric vehicle charging ports, and two disabled parking bays.

Signage would include a mix of menu boards and traffic signs, as well as the company logo facing Ipswich Road and the A1070, which would be about nine metres (30ft) tall.

But objectors are concerned about the access to the site, which would be gained via Ellen Aldous Avenue.

They are also objecting due to worries about sewage capacity, safety around access and would prevent children playing outside.

Comments are invited on Babergh's planning website here... using reference DC/23/01962.

The consultation date closes on Wednesday May 24.
