Speed indicator devices are to be placed in five different locations around Hadleigh after councillors unanimously agreed to pay out nearly £6,000 to buy them and have them installed

The town council have agreed to buy two speed indicator devices (SIDs), which will then be rotated between sites at Bridge Street, Aldham Mill Hill Station Road, and on Lady Lane near the industrial area and town centre, subject to confirmation by Suffolk Highways.

Volunteers will move the SIDs from site to site on a three week basis to ensure drivers do not become complacent about their whereabouts.

The council will purchase two Evolis signs for £4,600.36 and five poles for £950, totalling £5,550.36 with the costs including solar power, data collection facilities, spare batteries and charger.

Ongoing costs would cover the charging of batteries and any staff time on data analysis and reporting.
